i am ninja” Summer ChallengeWeek Two
  1. Try a new fruit. Please share with us in class what you tried and if you liked it!
  2. Who loves American Ninja Warrior? I sure do! Obstacle courses lead to creativity, imaginative thinking, build incredible movement skills, and are just plain fun. This week’s movement challenge . . . make your own obstacle course. This can be done just about anywhere. Of course, stay safe, and have lots of fun!
  3. Gratitude is powerful. Make a list of at least 10 things you are grateful for in your life.

“i am ninja” Summer ChallengeWeek Three
  1. Learn where your favorite fruit or veggie comes from. Look it up to see where it is grown, how it is grown, and what it looks like when it is growing.
  2. Yay burpees! Complete a total of 30 burpees this week. If you want to do more, for a bigger challenge, go for it!
  3. Positive Mental Attitude training – write down five things that you had a difficult time doing at first, then with perseverance, were able to complete. Any time you come across something that is difficult, read the list of the things you have already accomplished, even though they were hard at first, to give you motivation that you can tackle this new hard thing, and succeed as well!
  4. Parent’s choice. Mom’s and Dad’s – this one is up to you! We would love for you to write down what you challenged your kids to do on the line provided on the challenge sheet.

“i am ninja”Summer Challenge Week Four
  1. Try a healthy new food this week.
  2. Try a new physical activity this week. It can be a game, a sport, something new at the park. It can be a new exercise. A physical game you make up. Anything physical that is new for you!
  3. Positive mental attitude training……Try your best to do no whining, moaning, or complaining. For an extra challenge, see how long you can go without whining, moaning, or complaining! Can you go 6 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours? If you whine, moan, or complain then the clock resets. If you can get 48 hours, have Mom or Dad let me know and I will let you break a board next week in class as a special prize!
  4. Parent’s Choice. Your choice again Moms and Dads – Please write down what you challenged your kids to do on the line provided on the challenge sheet.

“i am ninja”Summer Challenge Week Five
  1. Eat a meal (or many meals) mindfully.  This means to pay attention to what you are eating.  How does it taste?  How does it feel?  How does it sound?  How does it smell?  Too often we rush through meals and don’t actually pay attention to what we are eating.  This can be a really fun challenge for the kids when approached in a playful and creative way!
  2. Time for my favorite exercise…pull ups! Find a pull up bar, playground equipment, or anything that will safely work, and try some pull ups. If you can’t do a pull up yet (or even if you can), just see how long you can hang. See if you can traverse the bar like a monkey. This is super fun and awesome exercise! Stay safe and be creative.

Here’s a quick video clip of me having some fun doing the Salmon Ladder up at Tempest Freerunning Academy in L.A. — see I love pull ups! Have some cool video or pictures of you completing any of the challenges? Send them to me and we’ll post them on the web site and Facebook page!
  3.

  4. What do you want to be when you grow up? Have a discussion about what you might like to be when you grow up, and how each of our tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit will help you!
  5. Parent’s Choice.  Your choice again Moms and Dads – Please write down what you want your kids to do on the line provided on the challenge sheet.

“i am ninja”Summer Challenge Week Six
  1. Catch up time. Use this week’s first challenge to catch up on any challenges that you still need to complete. All caught up? Great! Repeat your favorite challenge from the past five weeks.
  2. Balance challenge! How long can you stand on one foot? Too easy? How long can you stand on one foot with your eyes closed? Still too easy? How long can you stand on one foot with your leg extended in a front kick position higher than your waist? Still too easy? OK, you super ninja…..try (safely) a handstand and see how long you can stand on your hands!
  3. Applying the tenets towards school is the key to ensuring a successful school year. Have a discussion about how using the tenets will help you to have a the best school year ever this year!
  4. Parent’s Choice. Your choice again Moms and Dads – Please write down what you challenged your kids to do on the line provided on the challenge sheet.

Alright, you have the challenges . . . now go Live Like a Black Belt!
